This study is aimed at revealing worldview of the poet toward war that is reflected in Walking Wounded by Vernon Scannel. The methode used in the research is descriptive qualitative supported by Genetic structuralism theory by Lucien Goldman that focus on analyzing internal and external structures of a literary work. Through a deep investigation of the internal structure of the poem, biographical interpretation of the poet, and socio-historical background in the creation of the poems, it is finally revealed the worldview of the poet toward the war. Result shows that war is not only devastated physical buildings but humanity. War is absolutely giving nothing but misery and humiliation for humanity.This study is important in adding up knowledge especially on how a poem is investigated through its internal and external structure. Moreover, the most significant thing of this study reveals that poem could be a political activism of the poet. Revelation of the worldview of the poet toward the war enlarges the opportunity to change the worldview of every human in the world especially on how important the humanity is and how important is it to keep the world peace.

THE ANALYSIS OF CONJUNCTIONS IN WRITING AN ENGLISH NARRATIVE COMPOSITION: A SYNTAX PERSPECTIVE Paramita Kusumawardhani

The purpose of the research is to analyze about conjunctions as a part of syntax in writing an English narrative composition. Syntax is the study of the rules that govern the ways in which words combine to form phrases, clauses and sentences. Syntax is one of the major components of grammar. Noam Chomsky (2007) stated, “Syntax is the study of the principles and processes by which sentences are constructed in particular languages. Syntactic investigation of a given language has as its goal the construction of a grammar that can be viewed as a device of some sorts for producing the sentences of the language under analysis”. Conjunctions are also part of Syntax discussed in this paper. There are also parts of speech. There are eight parts of speech such as verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and interjections. A conjunction connects words, phrases or clauses. Writing is related to composition and there 4 kinds of composition, they are: argumentation, description, exposition and narration. Data was taken from 20 learners’ English narrative compositions. They were taken by asking the learners to make an English narrative composition. After taking the data then classifying, analyzing and correcting were done. There were some kinds of syntax were found in the learners’ English narrative compositions, they are: 5 items of subordinate conjunctions, 3 items of coordinate conjunctions and 2 item of conjunctive adverbs. This research is presenting about human values as an element of fiction that applied in a movie entitled Chappie. The analysis is focus on finding how human values of main character that appear in the movie and the human values influence to the characterization of main character in Chappie movie. The methods of this research are descriptive qualitative method and library research to get the data. The data of this analysis are taken from Chappie movie directed by Neill Blomkamp. Furthermore, the researcher takes some theories from several books that related with the title to analyze human value of the main character in Chappie movie. The researcher is also identifies data and information from the theories. Hereafter, the researcher analyse the data to finds the problem to discuss deeply. The researcher uses basic human values theory by Shalom H. Schwartz. The result of this analysis are human values appear of main character when Chappie has self-direction, tradition, stimulation, achievement, and universalism in his behaviour. Human values influence the characterization of main character when he takes attention, perception, interpretation in situations, and the planning of action in his life. Studi Komparatif Kemampuan Menulis Bahasa Inggris Antara Menggunakan Strategi Belajar Induktif Dengan Deduktif Jimmi Jimmi

The aim of this research is to find out the comparison of narrative writing skill between inductive learning strategy and deductive learning strategy for 11th grader student of SMK Selagan. The writer uses quasi experiment method of this research. The aim of this method is to know a comparison between inductive learning strategy and deductive learning strategy which is given for students. Also this research is to know whether those learning strategies having significant effect by giving inductive learning strategy and deductive learning strategy to students. From the research done by the writer have found that the grade of students learning and analyzed by using Test Normality, then continued by the count of t test in significantly degree of α = 0, 05 by free degree nA + nB-2. The result found that t count in significantly degree is 3, 926, and T table is 1, 670, continued to be compared of it. The fact is tcount > ttable (3,926 > 1,670). It means the hypothesis is accepted and the statement said that deductive learning strategy more better and truly giving the effect toward learning English writing is definitely true.

The purpose of this research is to explore archetype in the Presiden Jebule written by Budi Darma through cultural anthropology and psychoanalysis. The research method is content analysis to guide the researcher analyze the short story. The finding of the research are focusing to analysis archetype based on Northop Fryeâ€™s theory and Carl J Jungâ€™ theory. Presiden Jebule is focus about the image of a dictator who repress his society and the rhetoric using alliteration for repeating consonant to give some strong messages. Other findings are the dictator actually has bad experiences in the past, and Presiden Jebule becomes an icon to deliver his powerful to his society.Â

The research is to know liberal feminism of main characters that occur in Mirror Mirror movie. Based on the problems it can be formulated into the general research question; How is the role a liberal feminism in the movie, how is the gender equality appear in the mirror mirror movie, how is the influence of a liberal feminism in the mirror mirror movie based on sociological approach. Descriptive qualitative method is used to do the research, in which the data is analyzed through the used of the dialogue and picture. To get information means collect the data like watching the movie and searching the related literature. Learn, collect, and summarize the redesign reference books related to the preparation of this to get data and information as needed. Analysis of mirror mirror movie used by Hollow’s theory for the liberal feminism in the mirror mirror movie. Mulia’s theory for the gender equality appear in the the mirror mirror movie. Mooney, knox, and Schacht for the liberal feminism based on sociological approach. Finding the data analysis are: (1) the role a liberal feminism is the movie is the natural biological traits of men and women. (2) gender equality shows cultural concepts that appear the role, behavior, mentality, and emotional characteristic between men and women. (3) the influence of a liberal feminism based on sociological approach are the symbolic interactionism, functionalism, and conflict theory.

Analisis Penerjemahan Metafora Bahasa Inggris Ke Dalam Bahasa Indonesia Pada Novel Vivaldis’s Virgin: Gadis-Gadis Vivaldi Akhmad Hairul Umam

The objective of this research was to analyze and to get a deeper understanding toward metaphor translation, the equivalence between the source and target text as well as to investigate some factors that cause the equivalence including method, procedure, and semantic structure of translated metaphor. Metaphor as the object of this research was taken from a novel, Vivaldi’s Virgin written by Barbara Quick. The novel was translated into Indonesian: Gadis-gadis Vivaldi by Abdullah Al-wazin and published by Maroon Books Publisher in 2008. Each metaphor had different methods and procedures for its translation. A method used by the researcher on this translation text study was content analysis through descriptive qualitative method. There were 162 metaphors taken from this novel and classified into three categories: (1) metaphor translated as metaphor, (2) metaphor translated as a simile, (3) simile translated as a simile. Based on this data, the researcher found 110 text of metaphors translated into metaphors, 21 metaphors translated into simile and 31 of similes translated into simile. Each metaphor which was made up of different collocations has different image and equivalent. However, the reseach proved that this work had enought equivalent particularly between the source and target text. Translator of this novel mostlly used modulation and preposition method which was very much close to the naturalness of the target text.Keywords: Translation, metaphor, simile, equivalent.

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT AND STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION ACHIEVEMENT AT THE SECOND GRADE OF SMPN 30 BEKASI Ferawaty Puspitorini

In this research there are two variables: the independent variable is students vocabulary achievement and the dependent variable is students reading comprehension achievement. The purpose of this research are to find out whether there is correlation or not between students vocabulary achievement and students reading comprehension achievement at the second grade students of SMPN 30 Bekasi. The research method is ex post facto. The research is conducted all the second grade students of SMPN 30 Bekasi. The population of research is the total numbers of students are 272 students there are 6 classes in the second grade. The students are given post test. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. The result of data analysis through correlation Pearson Product Moment which has been modification, = 23,806 if compared by . Value criticize of chi square for the df (degree of freedom) equal to 1, level significant 0,05, = 3,841. It means that >. So, from the hypothesis we can see that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Based on the result from the interpretation the research concludes that there is significant The Correlation between students Vocabulary Achievement and Students Reading Comprehension Achievement at the Second Grade at SMPN 30 Bekasi. The aims of the research is to know grammatical mistakes in the text Introduction on English students’ papers, and it is also to know the cause of the occurrence of such errors. This case study was undertaken within an English Department at the Academy of Foreign Language of Bina Sarana Informatika (ABA BSI) Jakarta academic year 2015/2016. This research used descriptive method with content and discourse analysis on the text. This research was conducted in study subjects of Essay Writing. The result showed that students still do not understand enough the structure of a paragraph. The errors occurred in the technical understanding of the target language. But even so there was also little evidence of the influence of the mother tongue of the mistakes that students made. Students have to understand more the subject-verb agreement.

This tendency draws interest to find implicatures and symbol. This paper is using dialog script of Upin Ipin the series part Raya yang Makna. In this analysis the writer uses speech act theory by Searl, implicature theory by Grice, semiotic theory by Pierce. Based on the analysis the writer found some implicatures and symbols from ketupat and Idul Fitri card. we must always keep in touch by sending card in Idul Fitri and we just give it to someone who celebrate Idul Fitri. ketupat has many symbols such as the shape of ketupat is very complicated, it represents for our sins, the content of ketupat is white means our sins are already forgive. besides that the important value of this serial, shows us about togetherness. It describes from upin Ipin and their friends. Meimei is chinese and jarjit comes from India but they are invited by opah to come to her house and eat ketupat.
